Celebrating Five Years With Some Fun Facts
Inside Flipboard / July 29, 2015
When Flipboard launched five years ago we didn’t always know how each day would unfold, but we did know that we wanted to do something big that touches people’s lives. We’re still on that mission—to build a vibrant service where you can enjoy all the things you care about in one place.
Here are some fun facts about this journey so far…
When people come to Flipboard, we aim to give them something special—an inspiring or unexpected article about something they care about and a meaningful way to share the things they find with others who may share the same interests. Below are some of the stats we think about every day.
Our interest graph is expanding. With the release of topics last fall, people are exploring more content on Flipboard and engaging with a much wider spectrum of stories. We’ve seen patterns familiar to media platforms: lots of news and current events in the morning, followed by lifestyle and personal improvement reading in the afternoons and evenings.
One of the reasons you can find whatever interests you on Flipboard is because there’s now more than 21 million Flipboard Magazines about everything from Donald Trump to DIY. A Flipboard Magazine is a hand-picked collection of stories, videos and images, curated by someone who’s passionate about a subject or issue. These unique packages of content don’t exist anywhere else.
Every day we are amazed and thankful for how people use Flipboard to inspire and educate themselves and others. You can read stories about our community on our MagMaker blog and join the Flipboard Club every Friday in celebrating great Flipboard Magazines (tag them #FlipboardFriday on Twitter or browse the Club’s favorites).
