Photos of things organized neatly are fun to look at, but there appears to be more to it. The methodical placement of related objects in parallel or 90 degree angles is known as knolling. It allows you to see everything at once. Similar to this concept is mise en place, meaning “putting in place.” Professional chefs use mise to set up their stations so that they have all the components of a dish on hand as they cook. Keeping things tidy allows for a certain preparedness and control over the things you do.

Here are five Flipboard Magazines to help you tidy up at home and on the go:

1. Everything in its right place by Roberto: The act of arranging items can be soothing and meditative. Imagine how much time it took to take some of the photos in this magazine.

2. Everyday Carry Pocket & Purse Dumps by Elise: A popular meme is to knoll all of the items you carry with you every day in your pocket or purse. This snapshot can say a lot about a person and what they need when they aren’t at home.

3. Decluttering by Atilol Daza: Is the clutter in your house stressing you out? Find ways to store things better and toss away what you don’t need.

4. The KonMari Method for Tidying Up by Danielle Dirks: KonMari is a decluttering practice created by Marie Kondo, who asserts that you only need items that “spark joy.”

5. Minimalist Living by Laura L.Dunkley: Learn more about simply living with less, and perhaps, in a tiny home.
